We are excited to invite you to a unique and impactful event, "Mental Health, Resilience, and Thriving at University", taking place on 1st March 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the University of Portsmouth Student Union. Hosted by the Pinky Promise Club, this event will provide a supportive and informative space to discuss the mental health challenges students face at university, community challenges and share strategies for resilience, and explore resources and support systems available for students and members of the Portsmouth Community.
This event is part of a charity fundraising initiative aimed at supporting mental health services and advocacy for members of the Portsmouth Community, your participation and support will help make a real difference to community members in need of support.
Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from psychology professionals, mental health advocates, and local organisations, who will share their expertise on a variety of topics designed to help students better manage their well-being during their university journey.
Guest Speaker Panel Topics:
Hannah Playfoot-Murray is an NHS Professional and Therapist. As the host of the Beautiful Minds podcast, Hannah has previously been awarded the Mental Health Podcast of the year, and is the recipient of the Wellness Coach of the Year award for 2024 for the London and South Coast area.
In support of United Minds:
"United Minds is an incredible orgaisation based in hampshire that work with men to change the stigma around men's mental health. The team provide support for those most in need, through community education and awareness campaigns to promote mental health literacy. I personally have worked alongside some of their founders and know that their amazing work has changed the lives of so many men across the city!"
Dr. Sahen Gupta is a HCPC certified sport and performance psychologist who's work is focused within the space of resilience. His work as a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth gives him an insight into the psychology of professionals and students.

"I would like to support Pompey in the Community due to their combined approach for sport, mental health and holistic education using football as a means."
Joey is a mental fitness coach with a background in psychology, sports injury rehabilitation, and military mental fitness coaching. As The MOO Coach, Joey works with individuals to develop the tools they need to manage stress, improve self-discipline, and create long-term wellbeing habits. With two decades of experience in the military, Joey understands the power of developing resilience, overcoming adversity, and improving mental wellbeing.

"Mindset Maintenance is an incredible CIC dedicated to enhancing the mental wellbeing of our community. Their commitment to providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to build resilience and self-awareness through community-driven initiatives is truly inspiring. I had the privilege of being a guest speaker for them and saw firsthand the impact they have in transforming lives. Their work aligns perfectly with my mission to use movement and mindset coaching as tools for lasting mental wellbeing."
Zakia has worked as a mental health ambassador within education for many years and is passionate about breaking the stigma around mental health. Zakia's breath work and wellbeing practices are tailored to help children, teens, and adults release stress, restore balance and unlock their inner calm.
In Support of Kids Inspire:
"Having worked in Education for 25 years, helping young people to manage their mental health early on, in order to set them a lifetime of resilience and emotional wellbeing has been at the forefront of my vision.
I have decided to support the charity Kids Inspire as part of this Mental Health Resilience and Thriving Event. Kids Inspire plays a vital role in providing tailored care and guidance for children and young people, parents and families as well as community engagement The service they provide for individuals runs under the mission of "wanting all children and families to get the support they need to recover from trauma and thrive".

Spark Community Space
Who they are: SPARK Community Space aims to help people who don't feel like they fit in, to access the support and services they need, so they can 'Spark' back into life.
What they do: At SPARK, they welcome anyone who feels pushed aside or overlooked by society, whether that is becuase of disability, illness, redundancy, lack of qualifications or any other reason.
Meet people, wherever they are in life, without judgement, providing a space for people to share a cup of tea and a cake, gain skills and purpose through volunteering.
University of Portsmouth Well-being Service
Who they are: Available to students at the University of Portsmouth, this service is available online and in person.
What they do: They provide free mental health, wellbeing and counselling, resources and guides for help with different issues, and workshops, courses, events and support groups to connect with others.
Hive
Who they are: Hive Portsmouth aim to make a difference to the lives of people living, working and visiting the city.
What they do: Hive connect and support individuals, charities and organisations from across Portsmouth to innovate the way we respond to the issues faced by the community of Portsmouth.
Mindset Maintenance
Who they are: A Portsmouth based Not For Profit dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing and resilience of the community through powerful low-cost events and free workshops.
What they do: Led by a team of coaches and professionals from diverse backgrounds, our workshops provide practical tools and insights into self-management and emotional resilience. Through interactive sessions, group discussions, and informative talks, we guide participants to build skills that can enhance their mental wellbeing in daily life, work, and relationships.
United Minds
Who they are: United Minds is a men's mental health organisation based in Hampshire.
What they do: On the first and third Tuesday night each month, United Minds hold an open talk night in Purbrook. Talk nights are a non-judgemental talk session, where you can come and talk about concerns and listen to how others are coping with the stresses and pressure of life. Every Monday, United Minds hold a football kick about at Mounbatten 3G pitch, Alex Way, Hilsea, PO2 9QA.
